Check out The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure for a healthy and productive way for you to lose weight and live healthier!

Losing weight and dieting in a healthy way can be a challenging ordeal for even the most responsible person. One of the main reasons it can be difficult to stick with a diet and exercise routine is that with as busy as most people are, its hard to not just want to sit down and relax when you get some free time. Below you will find 6 ways to help you stick with your diet routine.

Diet with others

A little peer pressure goes a long way! Join up with friends, relatives, or groups of people who are trying to lose weight like you are. It’s a whole lot more fun to take on a challenge when there are other people around who share your goal.

Try new things

There is no reason that your meals or your exercise have to be boring. There are thousands of healthy foods out there, and more ways to exercise than can be counted. Spice things up every once in a while!

Be the tortoise, not the hare

If you really want to be healthy, yo-yo diets aren’t going to work. You want to lose the weight and keep it off, which requires you to commit to a long-term lifestyle change and stick with it. So pace yourself and don’t bite off more than you can chew. Healthy weight loss is steady over time, but sudden fluctuations down and then back up are neither healthy nor effective.

Take a diet break

Once every two weeks or so, take a whole day and let yourself eat whatever you want. This will let you blow off steam and kill some food cravings, making you less likely to walk away from your diet.

Make it easy for yourself

Eating healthy may seem like a lot more work than going through the drive-through at McDonald’s. But you can actually cut a lot of corners that will save you time and still allow you to eat healthy food. For example, many people will make several meals’ worth of chicken at the same time, and then store it in the refrigerator so that they don’t have to cook individual chicken breasts every time they want to eat one. The same applies to freezing other foods like fruits and vegetables.

Get a coach

Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated, and we just need somebody to whip us into shape. A diet or nutrition coach can make things very simple for you by giving you a custom meal plan. They can also provide support and advice so that you always have answers to your diet questions. If your coach is also a fitness trainer, then this person may be providing you exercise routines and guidance in that area as well.

When you’ve finally summoned up

When you’ve finally summoned up the resolve to lose that extra weight, and you’ve started taking action, it can be tempting to overdo it. Beginners to both dieting and exercise tend to overcompensate for their previous bad habits, and in both activities, overcompensating can actually be dangerous. So what are the potential risks if you try to lose weight too fast?

You need to consume a certain number of calories each day for your body to function effectively. Yes, you want to be operating at a calorie deficit (burning more calories than you’re consuming) in order to lose weight. But you want it to be a reasonable deficit – the goal isn’t to starve yourself.

But when you lose weight too fast, starving yourself is basically what you’re doing. Your body is being deprived of the energy and nutrients it needs, and that’s no way to get healthy, is it? In addition, your cravings for food will be much more manageable if you are operating at a reasonable calorie deficit instead of an unhealthy, large one. Starving yourself usually leads to binging, and this can lead back to starving yourself, going around and around in a circle. This is often referred to as “yo-yo dieting.”

You see, a healthy diet can be maintained over a long period of time, and the results are long-lasting. But any results achieved from a fast starvation diet will probably disappear as soon as you resume your former eating habits. And as your weight goes up and down like a yo-yo, you’re also throwing off your metabolism, which has to constantly adjust to your changing calorie intake.

So the question is, are you looking for an unhealthy, painful way to lose weight, with short-lived results? Or are you looking for a healthy, pleasant way to lose weight and keep it off? The answer is obvious. You need a lifestyle change, not a “quick fix” starvation diet.

Weight gain doesn’t happens overnight, and neither does healthy weight loss. It takes time to shed fat in a way that doesn’t put excess strain on your body. Everybody craves immediate gratification, but the results you will achieve through slow, steady weight loss will be more reliable and, believe it or not, easier to attain in the long run.

If you’re looking for a healthy way to lose weight, check out the 31 Day Fat Loss Cure!

While you probably know that

While you probably know that losing weight happens much more quickly through diet and exercise than through diet alone, you may be a little bit intimidated by all of the bulky Nautilus-style workout machines that you see a lot of fitness buffs using. After all, if your goal is to lose weight and not to pile on a bunch of muscle, you don’t want to spend your time working out in a way that’s going to produce the latter result. But there are actually quite a few low-impact exercise machines that are specifically designed for people like you whose goal is weight loss.

One of the most common low-impact workout machines for weight loss is the exercise bike. This is a bicycle frame that sits stationary on the floor while the rider pedals a wheel that spins freely above the ground. Various levels of resistance can be applied to the wheel in order to make it easier or harder for the rider to pedal the bike.

Another common, but more expensive, machine that delivers a low-impact workout is the treadmill. Treadmills allow you to walk in place while a kind of short conveyor belt moves underneath you in a loop. You can increase or decrease the speed of the treadmill, using it for slow walks or fast-paced jogging. Some models also allow you to tilt the walking platform up and create an incline which simulates the experience of walking or running uphill.

The treadmill also had a weird cousin called the elliptical trainer. This machine takes the low-impact workout to a new level. Instead of walking or running to lose weight, your feet stay in place on two separate panels that take turns moving forward and backward. The motion is a bit like running in the air. There are also handles for your hands so that you can get your arms into the motion. It’s a pretty fun way to work out, and the “burn” you get is surprising – you can definitely tell you’re exercising.

One last low-impact exercise machine that isn’t found in many homes, but is popular in gyms and fitness clubs, is the stairclimber. This equipment simulates the motion of walking up a flight of stairs. Your feet move up and down on a pair of alternating steps, and the motion causes very little impact on your feet, ankles, or knees. While some companies do manufacture stairclimber models meant for the home user, they are on the higher end of the price spectrum compared to other weight loss equipment.

If you’re going to get

If you’re going to get the best results from your attempt to lose weight, you can’t just diet – you need to exercise, too. Diet and exercise go hand in hand, and getting the body you want is going to take both. While there are plenty of simple ways to exercise, walking around your neighborhood for example, you also have the option of joining a gym. Doing so provides a whole lot of benefits, some of which you may not have even thought of.

The most obvious reason to join a gym is that it gives you a dedicated place to do your exercise. You won’t find yourself constrained by the space limitations of your home, nor will you have to worry about bad weather preventing you from getting your exercise outdoors. The gym is a place that you can count on to be a stable environment for your workouts.

Working out at a gym also eliminates all of the outside distractions and allows you to focus on one thing – your goal of losing weight. It’s difficult to procrastinate when there’s nothing else to do except the task at hand! Without the kids running around or the phone ringing off the hook, you will be in an environment where you are more likely to get through your workout without being pulled away to do something else.

One of the biggest advantages of working out at a gym to lose weight is the motivational nature of seeing other people there. These are your peers, people who share your goal of getting and staying in shape. Some have been at it for a long time and look great, while others have just started and may possibly be more out of shape than you are. But you’re all there for one reason, and that is to improve your health and your lives.

If you want to use a variety of equipment but don’t have thousands of dollars to spend buying it, a gym membership provides the solution. Since your focus is on losing weight, look for a gym that has many different types of equipment geared towards cardio and light resistance training, not just the standard Nautilus-type weight machines. This way, you can mix up your workouts and avoid getting bored by doing the same thing over and over.

If you are serious about losing weight, a gym membership may be a smart move for you. It will introduce you into a new environment and surround you with people who share the same goal as you. Joining a gym may be a key part of the lifestyle change that you’re searching for.

When you’re unhappy about your

When you’re unhappy about your weight, almost every weight loss product you see looks fantastic. And there are certainly plenty of legitimate ways to lose weight and get yourself into great shape. But there are also far too many fads – products which are over-hyped at best, and downright dangerous at worst.

One infamous weight loss fad is Ephedra, which is an herb of Asian origin that is used as an ingredient in numerous “herbal” weight loss products. Ephedra is an extremely powerful appetite suppressant. Unfortunately, it is also very dangerous, having reportedly been linked to numerous deaths among its users.

In the 1990s, “Fen-phen” (fenfluramine-phentermine) was another huge weight loss supplement fad. Unfortunately, the product was implicated in several deaths involving heart-valve failure. Other side effects include migraines, dizziness, and trouble sleeping. And yet many of today’s weight loss products still contain phentermine.

Some dieters have taken laxatives in an attempt to force their bodies to shed another couple of pounds. This is extremely hard on your body. Abusing laxatives in this manner can cause all sorts of health problems, and it’s much easier to lose a couple of pounds naturally than to suffer through those problems later on.

Aspartame, an artificial sweetener commonly used in sugar-free drinks, is another dangerous chemical consumed by dieters in an attempt to lose weight. Aspartame has been the subject of multiple lawsuits concerning its alleged side effects. Some long-term users have reportedly suffered brain damage and blindness, and more immediate effects can include seizures.

One of the most dangerous shortcuts some dieters attempt to take is the use of diuretics. Diuretics are chemicals that force your body to flush out more fluids than it normally would, including the electrolytes it needs to be healthy. This causes you to become dehydrated, and then your body begins to protect itself by retaining water – at which point some dieters start the cycle all over again with the diuretics. Abusing your body with these chemicals can cause serious heart and kidney problems.

There are even more potential dangers when you factor in the personal allergies and reactions many people have to various substances. For example, if you have bowel problems, you can’t take Selenium, but it is included in many diet products. Similarly, people with Parkinson’s disease or mood disorders can’t take Kava, but it too is included in a number of products.

Be very careful when you start experimenting with weight loss products. There is a smart way to lose weight, and then there are a bunch of stupid ways. Permanently damaging your body is one of the stupid ways. Before you ingest anything, do your homework and make sure that you’re not doing more harm than good.

As with most challenges in

As with most challenges in life, succeeding in your weight loss goals starts with having the right mental outlook. The psychology of losing weight is the subject of many entire books, but you just need the bullet points. So, what are the most common ways in which dieters mentally sabotage themselves?

1. “I must be perfectly thin to be happy.”

This could not be further from the truth. As long as you are improving yourself and moving towards your goal, you deserve to feel good about yourself. You don’t need to wait until you’ve reached your final destination physically before you start celebrating the changes you’re making. In fact, if you go into it with that mentality, you will probably have a hard time being happy even after reaching your perfect weight and fitness level.

2. “I must eat until I’m full.”

Big, gut-busting meals are all too familiar to many of us. We’ve conditioned ourselves to feel like the meal is not over until we can not eat any more. In reality, this is a very unhealthy way to approach eating. Your decision about whether to eat more or stop eating should be based on sound nutritional guidelines.

3. “I just have to have my comfort foods.”

Those foods became items of comfort for you because you ate them consistently over such a long period of time. There are plenty of delicious foods out there which also happen to be healthy. Instead of perpetuating your old, bad habits, start new ones! In no time at all, you’ll gain a whole new set of comfort foods – ones that you can really feel good about eating.

4. “I can’t stick with a weight loss program”

You have to. The only way you will avoid living as an overweight person is to live as a healthy person. This simply isn’t negotiable. It’s not enough to decide that you’re unhappy living with all of that extra weight and the increased health risks that come with it. You have to be unhappy enough to actually do something about it, and then you have to keep on taking action until the weight is gone. You have to stick with it!

Your body’s metabolism has a

Your body’s metabolism has a direct affect on how many calories you burn each day, and therefore on how much weight you lose. In scientific terms, metabolism is the combination of two processes: catabolism, in which the body breaks down substances into energy, and anabolism, in which the body synthesizes substances needed for survival. In simple terms, your metabolism is how your body burns up the calories you consume, which means that by increasing the rate of your metabolism, you can actually burn calories more quickly and easily.

The most direct way to affect the rate of your metabolism is to do a little exercise. In the short term, you are using up lots of calories, which obviously helps you to lose weight. But then, something interesting happens. Your increased metabolism doesn’t immediately go away when you’re finished working out. Instead, you will continue to burn calories at a higher rate than normal for up to eight hours before the effect has fully subsided!

And exercise also helps you to increase your metabolism over the long term. When you have less fat and more lean muscle on your body, your metabolism speeds up. So as you exercise over time, your metabolism gets better, and that in and of itself makes your job a lot easier as you continue improving your fitness.

When the goal is increased metabolism, the best time to exercise is once in the morning and then a few minutes at various times throughout the day, whenever you can fit it into your schedule. Even doing just a few exercises in the morning will increase your metabolism throughout a significant portion of the day. You want to avoid exercising just before bed, however, as this can make it difficult to sleep.

How you manage your food intake also has a huge impact on the rate of your metabolism. Your metabolism speeds up when you ingest food, and it slows down when you go for long periods of time without eating anything. The optimum eating schedule is four to six small meals divided up evenly throughout the day (as opposed to three big meals). This keeps your metabolism up throughout the day during times when it would normally be slowing. Eating breakfast is especially important for jump starting your metabolism every day, as it has slowed dramatically by the time you wake in the morning due to a lack of food all night.

The types of foods you eat are the final piece of the puzzle. The normal rules of healthy eating apply here – did you think you would escape them? Sugar, fatty foods, alcohol, caffeine, and other unhealthy foods will harm your metabolism as surely as they will harm the rest of your body. Stick with lean meats, fish, proteins, fruit, grains, dairy, and other foods that can be found on the old nutritional pyramid you remember from school.

Everybody knows that eating right is critical to your success when you try to lose weight. But what most people don’t know is that there is more to losing weight than simply consuming fewer calories. There are actually some specific foods that have benefits beyond their low calorie counts – foods which actively help your body fight off the fat.

Apples are a fantastic calorie-burning food. They contain pectic material that your body can use to slow the absorption of fat and speed up the absorption of water. The water, in turn, helps your body even more by aiding in the release of fat deposits throughout the body. Other great fruits for weight loss are those which contain high amounts of Vitamin C. These are mostly the citrus fruits like oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, guava, papaya, and more. Vitamin C plays a big role in helping the body to burn fat, and the fiber in these fruits is also highly beneficial.

Calcium-rich dairy products provide the calcium needed to break down fat in the cells. Milk, yogurt, cheese, and other dairy products are a great way to help your body burn fat more quickly.
If you love spicy food, then you’re in luck, because chillies and cayenne peppers are famous fat-fighting ingredients. These foods contain a chemical called capsicum that increases your metabolism rate, and the faster your metabolism is, the easier it is to shed excess pounds. Another food containing capsicum is cardamom.

Eating a lot of protein will make burning the fat away much easier. Foods which are rich in protein take more work for the body to digest, meaning that more calories are used up in the process. And protein-rich foods are generally much more lean and healthy that fatty foods to begin with. Chicken, turkey, fish, grains, and beans are all great low-calorie sources of protein.

Other effective fat-burning foods include nuts, garlic, fish oil, cabbage, and soybeans. This list is not complete by any means, but it should make a suitable start for your next shopping trip. Now that you’re serious about losing weight, satisfy yourself with foods that actually burn calories and then watch the pounds melt away.

Where there are some legitimate

Where there are some legitimate uses for diet pills, they are commonly abused by dieters in search of a shortcut to weight loss success, and in that context they can be quite dangerous. They will suppress your appetite, sure – but this does nothing to make you more healthy in the long run. The real solution is to learn about healthy eating, and diet pills won’t make that happen. As soon as you stop taking the pills you’ve been relying on (you can’t take them forever), your appetite will return, and since you still won’t have learned proper eating habits, the weight will probably come right back as well.

Diet pills can also be addictive, and for those who already have body image issues or eating disorders, this can add up to a powerful one-two punch. Doctors are reluctant to prescribe pills for dieting, and there’s a good reason for this. The medical side effects of various diet aids can range from difficulty sleeping to addiction, hallucinations, high blood pressure, or heart problems.

The ingredients in many of these pills are downright dangerous. Some of them contain Phenolphthalein, a suspected carcinogen (cancer-causing agent) used frequently in chemical experiments. Others contain Sibutramine, a drug that is know to cause medical problems including seizures, palpitations, heart attack, stroke, and more.

Another commonly used ingredient which is unapproved by the FDA is Rimonabant, which is widely used in Europe. Common side effects are mental instability and depression, and users have an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and actions. This drug has been responsible for at least five deaths and several hundred bad (but not fatal) reactions in Europe.

The FDA exposes some of the worst diet pill offenders in a list on their website (www.fda.gov). There are dozens of products listed, so we can’t go over them all here, but you will find them easily if you do a quick search on the FDA’s website. Some of the brands include Powerful Slim, 21 Double Slim, and Fatloss Slimming. Whatever you do, make sure that you know exactly what you are putting into your body if you make the decision to try diet pills.
